Home Sweet Home. February has finally allowed me to readjust to life in the States, and get caught up on some of my administrative work to close out 2012, and plan ahead for 2013.
Early this month the Learning2Live, Gospel-presentation booklets I produced last year arrived from the printer, and they look great. We are still working on the partner website before we make them publicly available, but having them in hand is still a huge accomplishment.
On top of writing the articles for that website, February has been a chance for me to touch base with some of my supporters, and even check in with two of my supporting churches. The beginning of the month I had the privilege of preaching a missions conference for Friendswood Baptist Church, in Friendswood, TX. It was a blessing to visit the church and spend time with other missionaries from around the globe. Then on the 24th, I had the honor of sharing my stories from the past year with my home church, Redemption Church, in Odessa, TX, and inviting them to get involved with the ministry in the year ahead.
The rest of my time has been spent making contact with new churches to spread word of my work, and trying to raise new support. As most of you know, being a “fundraising missionary” I do not get a salary from my organization. Instead, all of my living expenses and ministry funds come from outside support. So “THANK YOU” to everyone of you who blesses me by allowing me to do this work with your generous donations and know that I welcome your help in spreading word of my work.
Up next for me is a 2.5 week outreach in the Middle East, doing open-air evangelism events, meeting with Christian ministers and churches, and planning how HGIM can be active in evangelism in the region in the future.
After all the time the beginning of January trying to finish up my work in Haiti, and getting prepared for what’s ahead, February has finally given me a chance to get some rest.
It has been very nice to have some time to really get alone and seek the Lord, and also to spend some time with my family, hang out with my home church and community group, and to catch up with friends here in the States.
Being back in West Texas after living so long in the Caribbean, however, has not been good for my allergies. Cold weather, wind, and dust, has kept me out of commission quite a bit this month, but it isn’t slowing down my planning for what’s ahead. I am excited about what God has in store this year!
