June ’14 Ministry Update

As we now come into the month July, celebrating the freedom we have in our nation and then thanking God for the freedom we have in Christ, I am humbled once again by the privilege I have to be a voice, declaring this freedom, to the lost around the world. Looking back at June, it has been another wonderful month for me.

I have two highlights this month that I want to share briefly. The first was the honor I had of spending a few days with Pastor Lou Saparito and his wonderful family, and his church, Our Father’s Treasure, in Vero Beach, Florida.

There are very few people in our lives that we meet completely by chance that will become deep God-friends, who really pray for us and care for us, but the Sparitos and the OFT family are that for me.
During my time in Florida, not only did I have the opportunity to share with the church family, but I also had the chance to kayak into a school of dolphins and be scared at the beach by a closely-passing manatee.

The second highlight of the month was going back to Haiti and see my kiddos. It has been 13 months since I have seen their smiling faces, and I was overwhelmed by the love I was shown upon arrival.

Heart of God Haiti took a small team, consisting of teachers and school administrators, down to our village in Godet, where we held a teacher’s training conference for four area schools. We also did a VBS for the kids in the Godet school, and wrapped it up with a rooftop evangelistic outreach consisting of Christian music and presentation of the Gospel message for the village. The results were extremely positive.

We also visited a meeting of Kofael, the micro-finance loan program for women, started by Heart of God Missionaries, Eric and Elizabeth Ream, located in Port-au-Prince, and then on Sunday, I once again had the privilege of preaching for the church in Godet. I loved seeing old friends again.

After many hugs, and a few tears, it was hard to leave them again, but our missionary on the ground there, Erin Corbett, is doing an amazing job loving on the kids, caring for their needs, and teaching them English.

The next trip to Haiti is a medical mission scheduled for November. You can contact me if you want more details on that or future trips.

  • Pray for one of the girls in at the Center, Nerlande, who has officially been diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome. Pray for a complete and swift recovery without permanent residual effects.  It’s so difficult to see children suffer without good medical attention.
  • Pray for Eric Ream and me as we travel to Israel this month for a ministry survey trip. I immediately go to Uganda from Israel.
  • Please keep our Uganda team for this summer in prayer as they are in their final fundraising stretch. I have one more training next week with the Texas part of the team.
  • Pray for some personal opportunities which I am unable to share at this time.
