November ’14 Update

This year I celebrated both my 30th birthday and the Thanksgiving holiday with a whirlwind trip to India. For a short trip, with only 9 full days on the ground, HGIM India team member, Dan, and I had the the opportunity to speak in a three-day pastor’s conference, about 17 different churches, and an open-air outreach. During the pastor’s conference, I shared on three core values for Christian leadership: living a life marked by holiness, worship, and humility. It was well received by the 50-60 pastors in attendance.

In the many churches we visited, Dan and I both shared encouraging, gospel-centered messages as the Lord led, then had the opportunity to lay hands on and pray for  every member and visitor in attendance. I shared many messages intended on encouraging the believers to persevere in the face of trials and persecutions, and Dan shared many helpful insights from Jesus’ parables.

Though traveling to all the different village churches required many hours in a  packed car, it was well worth it. Sharing the word and praying with people are my favorite parts of my job description.

HGIM Leadership Network

The website and Facebook page for the HGIM Leadership Network are both up and running.

You can sign up to receive the twice-per-month leadership principles at and join in the discussions on the Facebook page.

Please help us spread the word to your friends, family, and church congregations. The first leadership principle will roll out the first week of January.

Finally, on the last night of our trip we took part in an open air outreach organized by some of our churches. There were over 100 people in attendance, and I had the opportunity to preach to gospel over the loudspeakers in the middle of a very Hindu village. Two people came forward to receive Christ, before we again opened the prayer lines for anyone in attendance.

End of Year Giving

First of all, I want to thank everyone who gave to Heart of God in the #GivingTuesday campaign. Your donations will help keep the HGIM infrastructure running for another year.

I want to take a moment to remind you that end of year giving season is in full  swing, and ask that as you begin looking to get your last minute charitable gifts out this year, would you consider supporting my evangelistic work as a part of your
giving? All donations made by December 31 will receive a charitable gift receipt for your 2014 income tax filing. If you are a business owner or know someone who might be interested and would like to talk with me directly to discuss how contributions can be made or how the funds would be spent, I would love to do that as well.

Donations can be made through the ‘Donate” link and you can contact me directly for more information at 1-888-91PSALM (ext. 1) or

Reminder: 2015 Summer Internship

Don’t forget, I am taking applications for next summer’s 10-weeki nternship in Uganda and South Sudan. The internship will consist of hands-on discipleship and training for an evangelistic lifestyle, and will include ministry opportunities for teaching, preaching, open-air outreaches, door-to-door evangelism, prayer ministry for the sick in village hospitals, prison ministry in rural Sudan, and participation in the Youth Ablaze conference.

The cost for this internship is $7000 per person which covers all travel, housing, food, and ministry expenses. (Any personal expenses must be taken care of by the participant.) Applications will require a pastoral recommendation as well as three personal references. All applications will be prayerfully considered on a first-come basis. Interns must be at least 18 years old; I will be accepting up to 8 interns for this summer program. For more information, please contact me directly.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for my end-of-year fundraising goals and for a successful season of fundraising for the first quarter of 2015. My current level of support is very low, and I have put off catching up for too long.
  • Pray for the successful launch of the HGIM Leadership Network and for the global leaders it may reach.
  • Pray for me as I continue to prepare next summer’s internship.
