Hey Scott, great thoughts. I’ve been studying about what it means to be spiritually clean. My all time favorite verse blows me away everytime I read it: Titus 3:5- “Not by works of righteousness that we have done but according to his mercy he has saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”

I love the words wash, regeneration, and renew. They are such descriptive words about what happens to a person upon salvation. Titus is such a great book to read to get a discriptive view about the moment of salvation and the change that occurs afterward.

I’ve been really struggling with being jaded and settling for OK. Everyone at my work knows I’m a Christian but I feel like there isn’t much of a difference sometimes. I need to hold on to the fact that I’m a new creature, that I’ve been regenerated and that’s exciting.

Excellent observations, Scott, and oh, so true! Our study must lead to deeper relationship or we’re merely feeding a carnal desire for more knowledge — it’s the age-old gnostic lifestyle that believes knowledge is everything. Particularly in the US, there is a revival of gnosticism among the “church” … knowledge of the Word, man’s interpretation of divine truth, using the scriptures to prove man’s opinion void of the leading of the Spirit and infusion of Life into the heart of the believer. So many on a quest for knowledge but fail to allow the brain to connect to the heart.

This is what I believe it will take for a true revival in America … the question for knowledge MUST meet the need of the heart, and the heart must be impacted by the knowledge of the Word. If the heart isn’t changed, there is no reason for revival … no reason for celebration, no glory of God to be revealed.

The Word of God is EVER important in a believer’s life. But if the knowledge of God’s Word doesn’t transform the heart, it has merely been a gnostic quest to edify self.

Lord, change our hearts! Lead us into all Truth, not for any other reason than to “die to sin and live for righteousness” (1 Peter 2:24) that YOU might be glorified in us! Amen!

    Good word, brother!

    -Jan
